Screening Questions

Have you been diagnosed with primary hypothyroidism for at least 1 year?

What's your height?

Do you have cirrhosis, are on dialysis, or have serious kidney or liver disease?

Is your current T4 dose at least 25 mcg per day?

Have you had alcohol or drug abuse in the past 6 months?

What's your weight?

Do you have 2 recent TSH results in the normal range (0.45 – 4.12 mIU/L)?

Are you between 18 and 75 years old?

Has your T4 dose been the same for the last 3 months?

Have you been taking synthetic T4 (like levothyroxine) continuously for the past 12 months?

Are you currently using or used any of the following within the past 12 months?

Am I the right age to join?

You must be between 18 and 75 years old to participate in this study.

Do I qualify if I’ve had thyroid problems for a while?

Yes. If you were diagnosed with primary hypothyroidism over a year ago. Patients who had thyroid cancer surgery may qualify if it was over 5 years ago, with no signs of recurrence.

What kind of thyroid medication should I be taking?

You need to be on a stable, FDA-approved dose of synthetic T4 (like levothyroxine) for at least 3 months before screening, and have been taking it continuously for the past 12 months.

What lab results do I need?

You’ll need at least two TSH lab results within the normal range (0.45–4.12 mIU/L), including one at the screening visit and one from the past year.

Are there weight or pregnancy requirements?

Yes. Your BMI must be between 18 and 40. If you’re a woman of childbearing potential, you must test negative for pregnancy and use birth control during the study.

What else should I expect?

You must be willing to sign an informed consent, attend all study visits, complete study tasks, and be able to follow instructions throughout the entire study.
